Normally Closed Anti-Siphon Valve

The Morrison Bros. 710 Series is a normally closed, hung piston solenoid valve designed to prevent accidental siphoning of product from a tank when a downstream pipe fracture or leak occurs below the liquid level. Installed on the dispensing side of a fuel system pipeline, the valve remains closed until it receives an electronic signal (such as a dispenser or pump switching on) at which point it opens to allow flow. Zero pressure differential operation means the valve actuates reliably even in low-pressure gravity-fed systems where pressure-dependent designs would fail to open. In data center liquid cooling environments, including direct-to-chip and immersion cooling systems, the 710 Series serves as a critical fail-safe on coolant distribution units and manifolds: if a line breaks at an elevation below the reservoir, the valve automatically closes to prevent the entire coolant supply from draining onto active infrastructure. The Class H continuous-duty coil supports extended open cycles without thermal degradation, making it suitable for the around-the-clock demands of high-density GPU and CPU cooling loops.

The brass-body 710 is available in ¾" through 3" NPT and uses FKM seals rated to 302°F. For compatibility with treated water, glycol coolants, or corrosive process fluids, the 710SS variant offers a 304 stainless steel body, stainless piston, and PTFE seals rated to 356°F. The solenoid is housed in an integral watertight, explosion-proof enclosure rated NEMA 3, 4X, 7, and 9 (Groups C and D) and carries UL and cULus listings for Class I Division 1 and Class II Division 1 hazardous locations. The standard coil operates at 120V AC and the 710MO adds a manual override for operation during a power outage.

Key specifications:

  • Maximum fluid temperature: 302°F
  • Maximum fluid viscosity: 60 centistokes
  • Integral thermal relief relieves expansion pressure opposite to flow direction
  • Enclosure: NEMA 3, 4X, 7, 9; explosion-proof, watertight
  • UL Certified: Class I Division 1 Groups C & D; Class II Division 1 Groups E, F & G; Class III; cULus Listed
  • 100 mesh inlet strainer recommended

NOTE: This valve can only be pumped in one direction, the direction of the flow arrow. Not designed for use as an overfill prevention or process control valve.

Features

  • Normally closed, hung piston design
  • Install in a horizontal pipeline in the upright vertical position
  • Zero pressure differential
  • Integral thermal relief allows the valve to relieve expansion pressure in the opposite direction of flow
  • Continuous duty Class H standard coil operates at 120 volts
  • Enclosure is watertight and rated for hazardous locations—NEMA 3, 4X, 7 and 9; groups C and D
  • Several optional coil voltages available
  • 710MO has manual override feature. Available in sizes ranging from ¾″ to 2″ for operation during a power outage
  • Recommended for use with liquids having a maximum viscosity of 60 centistokes
  • A strainer with a 100 mesh screen is recommended at the valve inlet
