3" Flanged High-Flow Fail-Safe Anti-Siphon Isolation for Large-Diameter Fuel & Cooling Headers

The Morrison Bros. 710FSS Series 3" flanged solenoid valve is the largest offering in the 710F line, purpose-built for high-volume dispensing-side isolation on above-ground fuel storage systems where a downstream pipe fracture or leak below tank level could otherwise siphon the entire tank contents. With a CV of 91 and a 3" full-bore orifice, this valve is the ideal choice when flow capacity is the governing design factor. This includes bulk dielectric fluid tank farms in large-scale immersion cooling facilities, where thousands of gallons of engineered fluid must be controlled at the primary supply header. The 304 stainless steel body and PTFE seals provide broad chemical compatibility with both petroleum-based dielectric fluids and water-glycol coolants used in CDUs. In data center infrastructure applications, the 3" valve functions as a fail-safe isolation barrier at the main tank outlet: the spring-loaded, normally closed piston drops shut instantly on power loss, making it suitable for emergency shutdown (ESD) sequences to isolate bulk fluid volumes from the facility in the event of a catastrophic line breach. The integral thermal relief allows expansion pressure to vent in the reverse flow direction, protecting large closed-loop headers from over-pressurization without a separate bypass line.

Note that the 3" model carries a reduced maximum operating pressure differential of 45 PSI (versus 105 PSI on the 2" size) and is rated at 48 watts. These factors should be verfied against your system's pressure and electrical load budgets. Also unlike the 2" size in the 710F line, no manual override option is available for the 3" configuration. The watertight, explosion-proof NEMA 3/4X/7/9 enclosure and UL Class I, Division 1 hazardous location certification make it deployable in mechanical yards shared with diesel generator fuel infrastructure, supporting parts commonality across fuel and cooling systems at the facility level. Install a 100-mesh strainer at the valve inlet. This is manufacturer-required to prevent piston malfunction and maintain warranty coverage.

Key specifications:

Features

  • Normally closed, hung piston design
  • Install in a horizontal pipeline in the upright vertical position
  • Zero pressure differential
  • Integral thermal relief allows the valve to relieve expansion pressure in the opposite direction of flow
  • Continuous duty Class H standard coil operates at 120 volts
  • Enclosure is watertight and rated for hazardous locations—NEMA 3, 4X, 7 and 9; groups C and D
  • Several optional coil voltages available
  • 710MO has manual override feature. Available in sizes ranging from ¾″ to 2″ for operation during a power outage
  • Recommended for use with liquids having a maximum viscosity of 60 centistokes
  • A strainer with a 100 mesh screen is recommended at the valve inlet
