316L Stainless Weld Ferrule for Sanitary Tank Connections

The Dixon 14WLMP Series light-duty tank weld ferrules are designed to be permanently welded to tank walls or vessels, providing a sanitary tri-clamp connection point for process lines in food, dairy, pharmaceutical, and data center liquid cooling applications. These ferrules are made from 316L stainless steel which adds molybdenum content for superior chloride and pitting resistance compared to 304 stainless. The low-carbon "L" grade also prevents carbide precipitation at the heat-affected weld zone, providing corrosion resistance through the full length of the fitting.

In data center liquid cooling installations, the 14WLMP is well suited for direct-to-chip cooling loops and immersion cooling tank fabrication. The butt-weld end provides a permanent, leak-resistant penetration through tank walls and the tri-clamp end allows rapid disconnection of manifolds, pumps, or filters without specialized tools. The elongated body length simplifies field welding to tank walls with reduced risk of warping, and the 32 Ra interior finish prevents particulate accumulation that could foul cold plate micro-channels. The tri-clamp interface maintains seal integrity under pump vibration and thermal cycling better than threaded connections.
