AUTOMATIC DRUM ATTACHMENTS FOR HEAVY-DUTY DRUM HANDLING
Automatic drum attachments speed loading, handling and stacking of steel drums. One person can easily lift, transfer and deposit steel drums without leaving the forklift. Easily and quickly attaches to most forklifts-no hydraulic or electric connections required. Drum handler slips onto forks and is secured by turn-down bolts. To operate, fork lift driver approaches drum with jaws raised midway between the upper and lower rolling ribs. Lowers jaws slightly upon contact with drum to assist opening. Lifts drum with jaws gripping just below upper rolling rib. To disengage, lower until jaws contact lower rolling rib. Continue to lower and back off as jaws open. Heavy-duty steel shaft provides parallel motion of gripping arms for better operator control and secure drum placement. US Patent No. 4,318, 661
